8/15 Love Our Lakefront: Steelworkers Park - Reflection

Hey Neighbors,

We had an outstanding Love Our Lakefront gathering on Saturday at Steelworkers Park.

 Storms threatened this much-awaited event, but lifted just as we started. 

Several brave souls climbed the old factory wall.

Local activist Karen Roothaan provided deep insights into the history and renewal of the land.

The eroding factory wall looks like a mountain in a jungle landscape.

Andy Rasmussen educated us on the local trees, with color commentary from fellow Treekeeper Afrem

Princess Harris led us through the sense-enhancing Japanese practice of forest bathing, which she had thoughtfully adapted to the post-industrial landscape.

Many thanks to our inspiring presenters! 

Despite the fact that the park is on a former slag heap, we experienced moments of introspection and connection with nature.
