Intern Introduction (Summer '26 ): Clive

Hey folks!

The name is Clive, and I'm absolutely excited to be joining the Edgewater Environmental Coalition as the newest intern this summer!

I'm currently a student at Loyola University Chicago studying Environmental Policy. My interests are centered around community organizing, environmental advocacy, nature-based solutions, urban planning, and passing legislation across all levels of government. On campus, I serve as the Community Partnerships Chair for Loyola's Student Environmental Alliance, where I have led to introduce and connect students to co-own the relationships with local organizations and environmental initiatives in the neighborhood. I have also had the opportunity to work alongside several community and environmental groups across Chicago through coalition-building and grassroots advocacy efforts.

As a lifelong Chicago resident, my perspective on environmental issues has always been shaped by the communities around me. Growing up in a city as diverse and brilliant as Chicago taught me that building a healthier environment is about building stronger communities. I'm passionate about carrying an intersectional approach to environmentalism to bring people together across generations, cultures, faiths, and occupations. I believe genuine, sensible progress happens when we create spaces accessible for everyone to have a voice in shaping a shared vision for the future of their neighborhood.

What really drew me to EEC was my growing connection to Edgewater and the community spaces that make this neighborhood special. Spending time volunteering in the community garden at Berger Park helped me feel welcomed into the neighborhood and introduced me to a community of people who genuinely care about one another and the place they call home. Those experiences left a genuine lasting impression on me, and I'm truly grateful for the opportunities and relationships that ultimately led me to EEC.

I am looking forward to learning from community members, supporting EEC's work, and meeting many of you at events throughout the summer!
