Just three years after pushing for the biggest rate hike in Illinois history, Peoples Gas is back to ask for even more money from its customers. Peoples Gas wants to charge Chicago residents more money for its expensive pipelines that come with a hefty rate of return so the corporation's shareholders can make bigger profits. 

Already, Peoples Gas has doubled energy rates since 2011 and now, as Chicagoans are struggling to afford heating bills thanks to an exceptionally cold winter, the utility wants to make even bigger profits off its customers.
